IndiGo Cancels 40 Flights at Hyderabad Airport Due to Operational Issues | Udaipur Kiran


Hyderabad, December 3: Major operational disruptions hit IndiGo’s services at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday, leading to the cancellation of 40 flights.

An airport spokesperson confirmed that by 7 PM on December 3, a total of 19 departure flights and 21 arrival flights were cancelled due to the operational challenges faced by the airline.

In an advisory posted on social media platforms, RGIA stated, “We are aware that some flights at RGIA are experiencing delays and schedule changes due to operational reasons. Our teams at the airport are working closely with airlines to assist in their operations and are providing timely information and guidance to passengers.”

The advisory further mentioned, “Operations at RGIA are normal. Passengers are advised to check the latest status of their flights with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”

Over two days, a total of 54 flights have been cancelled. According to airport sources, on December 2 (Tuesday), nine departures and five arrivals were cancelled.

On Wednesday, flights arriving from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Madurai, Hubli, Bhopal, and Bhubaneswar were cancelled. Similarly, flights departing to Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hubli, and Bhopal were also cancelled.

Earlier on Tuesday, flights from Raipur, Coimbatore, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, and Goa were cancelled. Likewise, flights to Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Raipur, Udaipur, Goa, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam were also cancelled.

Additionally, on Tuesday, nine flights to destinations including Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad were delayed.

The flight cancellations and delays left many passengers stranded at the airport. Passengers travelling to specific domestic destinations to catch connecting international flights were the most affected.

Ayyappa devotees also faced significant inconvenience due to the flight cancellations and delays. Devotees who had booked tickets for the Hyderabad-Kochi IndiGo flight were left stranded due to the delays.

One devotee mentioned that airline staff did not respond to their queries about ticket refunds. The devotees said the delays disrupted their plans as they had booked tickets for ‘darshan’ at Sabarimala.
