IND vs SA: Rohit Sharma breaks Shahid Afridi’s world record for most ODI sixes


Star India batter Rohit Sharma etched his name in history books as he registered most sixes in ODI cricket during the first match against South Africa on Sunday, November 30 at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi. Rohit came into the match, needing just three more sixes to surpass Shahid Afridi, who held the record with 351 sixes from 369 innings.

He first levelled with Afridi with consecutive sixes against Prenelan Subrayen in the 15th over. Rohit further shattered the record with his trademark pull shot as he sent Marco Jansen over fine leg boundary. The opening batter already has the most sixes in T20Is to his name, having hit 205 maximums from 151 innings. He also has 88 sixes to his name from 116 innings in Test cricket, taking his overall tally in international cricket to 642, which is another world record.
