Paris Masters: Sinner Advances in Race for World No.1, to Face Zverev in Semifinal | Udaipur Kiran

Paris, November 1 (Udaipur Kiran). Italy’s star tennis player Jannik Sinner continued his remarkable form at the Paris Masters, defeating American Ben Shelton in straight sets to move closer to reclaiming the World No.1 ranking. Sinner won the quarterfinal 6-3, 6-3 on Friday and will now face defending champion Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.

This victory marked Sinner’s 24th consecutive win on indoor hard courts. If he clinches the Paris title, he will surpass Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz to become the new World No.1. Alcaraz had suffered a shock second-round exit earlier against Cameron Norrie.

Speaking after the match, Sinner said, “I’m not thinking about rankings right now. Every day brings a new challenge, and I just want to focus on my game.”

The 24-year-old Italian is chasing his fifth title of the season, having already won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, China Open, and Vienna Open. His win over Shelton was his seventh consecutive victory against the American, and he also holds a 3-0 head-to-head record against Zverev in their recent encounters.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Alexander Zverev, the tournament’s third seed, fought back brilliantly to beat Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(5). Zverev saved two match points in the final set to break his five-match losing streak against the Russian.

In another quarterfinal, Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur to reach his first-ever Masters 1000 semifinal.
