New Delhi, October 28 (Udaipur Kiran) — Dabang Delhi has become the first team to reach the final of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12. In a thrilling Qualifier-1 match held at Tyagaraj Indoor Stadium on Monday night, Delhi defeated Puneri Paltan 6-4 in a tiebreaker to book their place in the final.
The match ended in a 34-34 tie at the end of regular time, leading to a tiebreaker. This was the third tiebreaker between the two sides this season, with Delhi emerging victorious twice.
In the initial phase, Delhi took an early 4-1 lead within the first five minutes through a balanced effort in both raid and defense. During a do-or-die raid, both teams exchanged points as Delhi’s Ashu and Pune’s Pankaj were tackled out, while two Puneri defenders were declared self-out, giving both teams two points each.
Puneri Paltan managed to narrow the margin with two super tackles, ending the first quarter at 6-7. After the break, Delhi’s defense caught Aditya, leading to another super tackle for Pune. However, Ashu’s strong raid resulted in an all-out, taking Delhi ahead 13-6. Paltan fought back with brilliant raids from Aditya and Pankaj, reducing the gap and completing an all-out of their own.
By halftime, Delhi led 18-17, but Pune soon equalized. Ashu’s crucial do-or-die raid once again pushed Delhi ahead, though he was later injured. Aditya’s super raid helped Delhi regain control, leading 28-23 by the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, Aditya’s multi-point raid gave Delhi a stronger hold, but Pune’s Neeraj responded with a super raid to bring them closer. Despite a few defensive errors, Delhi took advantage of key moments, forcing an all-out and leveling the score 34-34 in the dying minutes.
In the tiebreaker, Delhi maintained composure to win 6-4 and secure a place in the October 31 final. Puneri Paltan will now face the winner of the Eliminator-3 clash between Telugu Titans and Patna Pirates in Qualifier-2 for another chance to enter the final.
