Jaipur, October 24 (Udaipur Kiran): The Rajasthan Police Cyber Crime Branch has issued a public advisory warning citizens about a new form of cyber fraud involving fake court summons and arrest warrants. Cybercriminals are posing as court officials or police officers to threaten individuals and extort money through online payment channels.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Cyber Crime, Vikas Sharma, informed that scammers are now adopting deceptive methods to trap people through digital means.
How Cybercriminals Operate

Threatening Notices: Fraudsters introduce themselves as court officers, police officials, or advocates to create panic.

Fake Documents: They send digitally signed fake court summons, bail warrants, or FIR notices via WhatsApp, email, or other social media platforms.

Online Payment Demands: Victims are coerced into paying “bail amounts” or “case cancellation fees” through UPI, digital wallets, or bank transfers.
Cyber Safety Measures
Rajasthan Police has urged citizens to follow these precautionary steps to stay safe from such online frauds:

Verify Authenticity: Always verify any summons or warrant directly with the concerned court or local police station.

Avoid Clicking on Links: Do not click on suspicious links received via social media or email.

No Online Payments: Never transfer bail money or fees to unknown individuals or accounts.

Examine Carefully: Check the authenticity of any document, link, or video call received through social platforms.

Do Not Share Personal Details: Avoid sharing Aadhaar number, bank account details, OTPs, or other confidential information with anyone.
Report Cyber Fraud Immediately
DIG Vikas Sharma advised that in case of such incidents, citizens should report immediately to the nearest police station or cyber police station, or file a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in).
