CM Bhajanlal Sharma Inaugurates Three New Police Stations, Emphasises Crime Control and Peace as Top Priorities | Udaipur Kiran

Jaipur, September 29 (Udaipur Kiran) — Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to establishing the rule of law and delivering a strong crackdown on criminals, calling crime control and public safety the administration’s top priorities.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of three new police stations — Narayan Vihar, Journalist Colony, and Khora Bisal — the Chief Minister said development is only possible in a peaceful and secure environment. “This is not merely the inauguration of new police buildings but a decisive step towards making the state safer for its citizens,” he said.

He noted that his government has introduced several major reforms to modernise and strengthen the police force, including the formation of the Anti-Gangster Task Force and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe paper leak cases.

Major Steps to Strengthen Policing

Sharma said effective policing and law enforcement remain a core focus of his government. Key initiatives include the establishment of two new offices for Additional Superintendents of Police and two for Deputy Superintendents of Police, the creation of 22 new police stations, upgrading 8 police outposts into full-fledged stations, and sanctioning 35 new outposts.

He added that 255 new posts have been created for the Anti-Gangster Task Force under an Additional Director General of Crime Branch and for the proposed Anti-Narcotics Task Force, which includes a new police station and nine outposts at Jaipur headquarters.

Formation of 65 Anti-Romeo Squads

The Chief Minister announced that 65 Anti-Romeo Squads have been deployed across the state to ensure safety at schools, colleges, markets, religious places, malls, and bus stands. Three new women battalions — Padmini, Kali Bai, and Amrita Devi — have also been constituted, with 2,216 posts approved.

For enhanced women’s safety, 500 “Kalika” patrolling units have been introduced, and complaints are being addressed promptly through the women’s helpline 1090 and the RajCOP mobile app.

Modernisation Through Technology and Resources

Highlighting technological advancements, Sharma said all police stations now maintain computerised criminal records, while lists of arrested and missing persons are available on the Rajasthan Police web portal.

To improve response times, the state has deployed 25 interceptor vehicles, 750 motorcycles, and 500 police mobile units. Regional Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs) have been strengthened with 123 new posts to ensure faster and more accurate investigations.

He also announced a 10% annual increase in honorarium for home guard volunteers over two consecutive years and the creation of 2,000 new constable posts to accelerate recruitment.

Significant Drop in Crime Rates

Sharma reported a substantial decline in crime across the state. From 2023 to 2025, overall crimes fell by 19.45%, with a 13.90% drop recorded between 2024 and 2025. Cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes declined by 17.80%, against Scheduled Tribes by 18.77%, and crimes against women by 9.24%.

Earlier, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated the Narayan Vihar, Journalist Colony, and Khora Bisal police stations and interacted with “Suraksha Sakhis.”

The event was attended by Minister of State for Urban Governance (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Khara, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, senior police officials, CLG members, Suraksha Sakhis, and a large number of citizens.
