Weather to Change After Dussehra in Himachal, Yellow Alert Issued | Udaipur Kiran

Shimla, September 29 (Udaipur Kiran News): The pleasant weather in Himachal Pradesh following the withdrawal of the monsoon is set to change soon. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, warning that after Dussehra, the state is likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

According to the latest forecast, the weather across Himachal Pradesh will remain clear from September 30 to October 3. During this period, sunny days will bring warmth, while mornings and evenings will gradually turn cooler. The weather is also expected to remain clear on October 2, the day of Dussehra. However, from October 4, an approaching western disturbance is expected to alter weather conditions.

The department has predicted rain in mid and high-altitude areas on October 4, followed by widespread rainfall across the state on October 5. A yellow alert has been issued for both days, with forecasts indicating winds at 30–40 km/h, lightning, and heavy showers in several regions. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid exposure to open areas during this period.

This is the first weather alert issued after the retreat of the monsoon, which officially withdrew from Himachal Pradesh on September 26. Since then, the state has enjoyed bright sunshine and comfortable conditions.

On Monday, most parts of the state witnessed sunny weather, though Shimla saw occasional cloud cover. According to IMD data, the state’s average maximum temperature was two degrees Celsius above normal. Shimla recorded 24.6°C, Sundernagar 32.9°C, Bhuntar 32.2°C, Dharamshala 30°C, Una 35.8°C, Solan 30°C, Manali 26.5°C, Dhaulakuan 32.4°C, Hamirpur 31.6°C, and Bilaspur 34.5°C.

The department has urged people to remain alert during the upcoming weather changes. Citizens are advised not to take shelter under trees during lightning and to avoid standing in open areas. The IMD has also warned that strong winds may cause tree falls and damage to power lines, leading to possible disruptions.

The sudden change in weather could also pose challenges for apple growers, as the harvest season is in its final phase. The department has advised farmers to take necessary precautions to minimize potential losses.

The weather is expected to remain clear and pleasant till Dussehra, but rain and strong winds afterward may cause inconvenience in various parts of the state.
