PM Modi to Launch BSNL’s Indigenous 4G Stack and Nationwide Saturation Project on Sept 27 | Udaipur Kiran


New Delhi, September 28 (Udaipur Kiran News) – In a major milestone for India’s telecom self-reliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch BSNL’s fully indigenous 4G stack and a nationwide saturation project on September 27, 2025. The move marks a new era for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) as it transitions to homegrown telecom technology, reinforcing India’s digital sovereignty and Make in India vision.

Developed entirely within the country, the 4G stack is a collaborative effort between Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), and Tejas Networks. The indigenous stack not only secures India’s telecom infrastructure but also positions the nation as a potential exporter of advanced telecom technology.

Nationwide 4G Rollout and Future-Ready Network

Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that BSNL has already deployed 4G services at 98,000 sites across India, serving over 22 million customers. The network, driven by software-based, cloud-native architecture, can be seamlessly upgraded to 5G, ensuring future scalability and efficiency.

Scindia emphasized that this indigenous 4G solution is a strategic leap for India’s telecom independence, stating, “The world is now turning to India for serious telecom manufacturing. Global giants like Cisco, Ericsson, VVDN, and Dixon are expanding operations here. India is no longer just a service hub, but a growing equipment manufacturing powerhouse.”

5G Launch Planned by December 2025

BSNL is preparing to launch 5G services in Mumbai and Delhi by December 2025, using the same homegrown technology. This rollout will be closely watched as it marks India’s entry into indigenous 5G deployment, a key step toward developing 6G standards in the future.

BSNL’s 4G and upcoming 5G technologies underline India’s ambition to achieve complete telecom autonomy, boost digital infrastructure, and strengthen its global technology footprint.
