Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena Exposes Major Seed Company Irregularities | Udaipur Kiran

Jaipur/Hanumangarh, September 27 (Udaipur Kiran News): Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena has once again exposed serious irregularities by seed companies. Determined to prevent substandard and non-certified seeds from reaching farmers during the Rabi season, just as in the Kharif season, the minister conducted a surprise inspection on Saturday at Star Agri Seeds Pvt. Ltd. located in Nagarana village of Sangaria tehsil, Hanumangarh district.

During the inspection, several major discrepancies were found. Wheat seed bags carried an address from Tamil Nadu, even though the entire production and packaging were taking place in the Sangaria region. Additionally, mustard seeds were found to contain harmful chemicals. As the company failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, the minister immediately ordered a halt on the sale of 10,000 quintals of mustard and 34,000 quintals of wheat seeds.

Over one lakh wheat seed bags were sealed and samples were collected for testing. The minister also imposed a complete ban on the sale of all seeds from the company until further orders. The action has been taken under the Seed Rules 1968 and Sections 7, 9, and 10. Further action will follow after the detailed investigation.

Rasi Seeds Irregularities Also Uncovered
The raid also revealed serious irregularities by Rasi Seeds Company. The firm was producing, manufacturing, and packaging seeds in Hanumangarh, but the bags were labeled with an address from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The agriculture minister termed it a major act of deception.

Star Agri Directed to Submit Key Documents
The agriculture minister has directed Star Agri Seeds Pvt. Ltd. to submit several crucial documents, including the firm’s license and registration certificate, crop-wise genetic source documents, R&D land records, GOT test reports for all varieties, a list of seed production carried out in farmers’ fields up to Kharif 2025, and receipts for foundation seeds provided to farmers.

This action marks another strong step by the government to ensure transparency and protect farmers from fraudulent seed practices.
