India women’s ODI series third match moved to Hobart due to Junction Oval floodlight delays

The third Women’s ODI between Australia and India, originally set for March 1, 2026, at Melbourne’s Junction Oval, has been moved to Hobart’s Bellerive Oval. The relocation was necessary because the new floodlights at Junction Oval would not be ready in time for the day-night match. Additionally, ongoing construction at the venue would have limited spectator access, making it impractical to hold the game there.

Cricket Australia had expected the floodlights to be completed well before the match. However, unexpected planning and construction delays prevented this. With only one day between the second and third ODIs, turning the match into a day game was not feasible. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was also unavailable due to renovation work, limiting options further.

Consequently, Bellerive Oval in Hobart will now host both the second and third ODIs of the series, ensuring the schedule continues without further disruptions. Peter Roach, Cricket Australia’s Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, expressed disappointment over the change, noting the excitement around hosting the first international match under lights at Junction Oval.

The India women’s team tour of Australia, running from February 15 to March 9, 2026, includes three T20Is, three ODIs, and a four-day Test match. For now, India and Australia are for a three-match ODI series followed by the Women’s World Cup, starting September 30.
