Concord Control Systems Develops India’s First Indigenous Zero-Emission Rail Propulsion System | Udaipur Kiran


New Delhi, September 5 (Udaipur Kiran) — Shares of Concord Control Systems (CCSL) surged on Thursday after the company announced the development of India’s first fully indigenous zero-emission propulsion system. The stock climbed 7.35% to ₹2,440.05 on the BSE, hitting a new 52-week high of ₹2,450.00.

The propulsion system, designed and manufactured entirely in India through CCSL’s Advanced Rail Division, represents a significant milestone in the country’s efforts toward net-zero emissions and 100% railway electrification by 2030.

Technology Highlights

The zero-emission system is powered by Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries and features a DC chopper-based drive. Unlike diesel engines that idle continuously, CCSL’s solution activates only when needed, ensuring greater efficiency, fuel savings, and zero emissions.

What makes this innovation stand out is its complete indigenous design. Apart from a few semiconductor devices, every critical element—including the chopper, Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), driver display, sensors, and controllers—has been designed and built by Concord Control Systems.

The system also introduces several technological firsts in India, such as:

  • High-voltage battery integration with choppers

  • CAN-based Vehicle Control Units

  • Fibreoptic EMI-immune signal transmission

Performance and Features

Retrofitted on a 700 HP diesel-electric platform, the system delivers 800A peak current to traction motors. It comes equipped with advanced features like:

  • Driver-friendly digital displays

  • CCTV/DVR monitoring for safety

  • Remote Monitoring System (RMS) for predictive maintenance and real-time diagnostics
