Sanjay Manjrekar was in awe of Harmanpreet Kaur’s knock in the Eliminator of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 against Gujarat Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. On Thursday, March 13, Harmanpreet scored 36 runs off 12 balls with two fours and four sixes before being run out in the last ball of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) innings.

The MI captain also set the record for having the highest strike-rate for an Indian batter to have faced 10 or more balls in a Women’s T20 innings. On the back of his knock, MI recorded a massive score of 213 for four after being asked to bat first. In the end, the Mumbai team beat the Giants by 47 runs and qualified for the final.

‘Harman instinctively finds the gaps’

Manjrekar said that Harmanpreet didn’t take time to settle and went for her shots right from the word go. The former Indian batter said that Harmanpreet’s ability to tee off from the outset makes her one of the most powerful strikers of the ball.

“Harmanpreet came in at a stage where she had no choice but to start hitting from ball one. With the kind of platform set before her, a total of 220 was in sight. At that point, the pitch was still a little slow, and Gujarat Giants made the right call by bringing in their slower bowlers,” Manjrekar said on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar.

“The boundaries weren’t too small either, but despite those factors, Harmanpreet wasted no time in accelerating. From her second ball onward, she was playing the difficult shots, and what stood out was how she found the gaps with ease,” Manjrekar said.

“It was a great reminder of what sets her apart. Unlike some batters who find the fielders early in their innings, Harman instinctively finds the gaps, making her one of the most dangerous hitters in the game today,” Manjrekar added.

Harmanpreet has her task cut out when MI lock horns with Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals on Saturday, March 15 in the final in a bid to win their second title.
