India captain Rohit Sharma had an X-rated message for his and Virat Kohli’s critics as he stated that both men won’t be retiring anytime soon after India’s Champions Trophy win on Sunday, March 9. India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to win their third Champions Trophy title and second consecutive ICC event after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rohit and Kohli played crucial roles in India’s Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai with the Indian skipper scoring a fluent 76. Kohli scored 218 runs in 5 matches for the tournament, including a hundred against Pakistan. There were a lot of rumours, especially about Rohit retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and the Indian captain had some choice words for his critics.

In a video by ICC, which has gone viral on social media, Rohit was seen talking to Kohli in his typical casual fashion after their celebration on the field. You can see the video below:

From the video, it is pretty evident that the star duo have no plans of retiring just yet.

What Rohit and Kohli said after Champions Trophy win

Rohit, during the press conference, put all rumours to bed as he said that he isn’t retiring from ODIs.

“Koi future plan ni hai. Jo chal ra hai wo chalega (There’s no future plan, things will keep on going as they are). I’m not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure that no rumours are spread moving forward,” said Rohit.

Kohli gave a hint about his future, saying that he wants to leave the Indian team in a better position when he finally decides to step away from the game.

“I try to speak to these guys as much as possible, share my experience about my longevity. I try to step in wherever I can to help improve their games. When you want to leave, you want to leave the game in a better position. That’s what we are striving for,” said Kohli.

The duo became India’s most successful players in men’s ICC events as they went past MS Dhoni with the win on Sunday.
