Jaipur, July 14: In response to a decline in crude oil production in recent years, the Rajasthan government has urged oil-producing companies to adopt new technologies to enhance output.
Aparna Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (Mines and Petroleum), stated that increasing the refining of the state’s crude oil within Rajasthan would significantly boost value addition and promote economic growth.
The government has intensified efforts to formulate a comprehensive action plan aimed at increasing the production of crude oil and natural gas in the state. This plan emphasizes the adoption of modern technologies and the expansion of exploration activities.
During a high-level meeting with senior officials from organizations involved in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas at the secretariat, Arora stressed the need to utilize globally successful techniques to boost production. She highlighted that Rajasthan ranks second in onshore natural gas production and third in crude oil production in the country.
Currently, Rajasthan has the capacity to process approximately 1.5 million tons of crude oil produced within the state.
Arora noted the recent decline in crude oil production and urged producing companies to adopt the latest technologies to reverse this trend. She emphasized that maximizing the refining of Rajasthan’s crude oil within the state would contribute significantly to economic development and value addition.
The Additional Chief Secretary also mentioned that oil and gas companies should adopt a dual strategy: accelerating exploration in new potential areas while simultaneously increasing production from existing fields using modern recovery techniques. She underscored the necessity of a long-term action plan to achieve consistent increases in production.
She further informed the meeting that Rajasthan has four major crude oil and natural gas basins: the Jaisalmer Basin, Barmer-Sanchore Basin, Bikaner-Nagaur Basin, and the Vindhyan Basin.
