Opposition Criticizes Karnataka Government Over Bidadi Township Project

Bengaluru, July 14: The Bidadi Township project in Karnataka has become a subject of controversy, prompting a strong backlash from the opposition against the state government. Nikhil Kumar, the state youth president of the Janata Dal (Secular), took to the social media platform ‘X’ to criticize the government.

In his post, Kumar condemned the Congress government for filing FIRs against innocent farmers involved in the Bidadi Township issue. He alleged that officials attempted to enter farmers’ lands for a Joint Measurement Survey (JMC) without prior notice, and the government is now using FIRs as a tool to intimidate those who questioned the move.

Kumar stated, “Farmers should not be afraid of the Congress government’s oppressive attitude. We are ready to provide all necessary legal assistance and support for your rightful struggle. The false FIRs against farmers should be revoked, and the innocent individuals detained must be released within the next 48 hours. Otherwise, a struggle against this anti-people government is inevitable!”

The Janata Dal (Secular) also posted from its official ‘X’ handle, highlighting that farmers from Mandalahalli village have been peacefully protesting for the past 500 days. They claimed that the actions taken under the guise of the JMC are evidence of the Congress government’s anti-farmer stance.

Central Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has also condemned the state government’s actions, stating that the provocative measures are a direct attempt to suppress the struggle led by farmers and women fighting to protect ‘Mother Earth’ (the provider). The JD(S) firmly denounces this oppressive action of seizing land from farmers who feed the nation.
