
Udaipur, July 13: On the occasion of World Population Day 2026, the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers and MBBS students of Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Sai Tirupati University, Umarada, organised a family planning awareness programme in the adopted village of Umarada.
Under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Avantika Gupta, students conducted door-to-door visits to educate villagers about the benefits of small families, maternal and child health, the importance of birth spacing, and various contraceptive methods. Informative counselling sessions were held, and awareness was also spread through attractive charts and visual presentations.
As part of the observance, Dr. Avantika Gupta organised a quiz competition at the medical college focusing on the National Family Planning Programme and India’s current Total Fertility Rate (TFR). Students also demonstrated different contraceptive methods and explained their benefits and proper usage.
The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to spread the message of “Small Family, Happy Family” among the wider community.
Faculty members and staff, including Dr. Yogesh Singhal, Dr. Mehul Patel, and Dr. Rajyalakshmi, were present during the event and supported the awareness initiative.
