Amit Shah Launches Massive Tree Plantation Drive in Ahmedabad


Ahmedabad, July 12: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a large-scale tree plantation campaign in Ahmedabad on Sunday, along with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of public infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹405 crore.

According to the schedule released ahead of his visit, Shah will begin his day at 8:30 AM at the Science Dome in Science City, Sola area, where he will formally launch the city-wide plantation initiative under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s ‘Five Million Trees’ mission.

The public event will also include the inauguration and foundation stone laying of various development projects jointly managed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), and the Roads and Buildings Department.

The total cost of the projects being inaugurated and laid is around ₹405 crore, aimed at strengthening the civic infrastructure across the city.

After the inauguration ceremony, Shah is expected to participate in a series of plantation programs at various locations in Ahmedabad as part of the extensive tree plantation campaign.

At 9:30 AM, he will join a plantation initiative at an AMC plot located on the Gota-Godhavi canal in the Thaltej ward of the Ghatlodia assembly constituency.

The second plantation program is scheduled for 9:55 AM at an AMC plot near Applewood on SP Ring Road in the Sarkhej ward of the Vejalpur assembly constituency.

Shah will conclude the plantation activities by participating in a program at 10:25 AM in the Stadium ward of the Naranpura assembly constituency, which will take place at the NDDDB plot located in front of the Vadaj BRTS corridor near Gandhi Ashram.

These plantation programs are part of the AMC’s ‘Mission Five Million Trees’ initiative, aimed at expanding the city’s green cover through extensive community participation.

Along with the AMC, AUDA, and the Roads and Buildings Department, this occasion will also be utilized to launch several public infrastructure projects in Ahmedabad.

Shah is expected to attend all four scheduled events during his visit to Gujarat on July 12, representing the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency in Parliament.
