GBH Performs First Successful Kidney Transplant in Udaipur | Udaipur Kiran

UDAIPUR, July 11, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : GBH General Hospital has successfully performed its first kidney transplant, marking another step forward in advanced medical care.

For 38-year-old Yuvraj, a resident of Bhilwara, and his family, the end of 2025 brought a major health crisis. Yuvraj, a father of two young children, developed severe back pain in November 2025. Initially considered a routine problem, further medical investigations revealed that both of his kidneys had been seriously affected.

The diagnosis led to consultations with several specialists and treatment in different cities. He underwent treatment in Ahmedabad for 15 days, but his condition continued to worsen, eventually requiring dialysis.

Yuvraj’s wife, Mamta, said the family was deeply concerned after doctors informed them that both kidneys had stopped functioning and that lifelong dialysis or a kidney transplant were the only available options. The future of their two children became the family’s biggest concern.

During a visit by nephrologist Dr. Anurag Jain to Bhilwara on behalf of GBH American Hospital, Yuvraj showed him his medical reports. After reviewing the reports, Dr. Jain advised a kidney transplant and assured the family that a timely decision could change his life.

Brother Donates Kidney

Medical evaluations were conducted for both Yuvraj’s wife Mamta and his brother Dilip. Tests confirmed that both were eligible donors. Dilip decided to donate one of his kidneys to his brother.

Six-Hour Surgery Successful

The kidney transplant team at GBH General Hospital, Udaipur, carried out the transplant procedure with advanced facilities and complete preparation. The surgery lasted nearly six hours and was declared successful.

Donor Dilip was discharged in healthy condition just four days after the surgery. Yuvraj’s transplanted kidney began functioning normally, and dialysis was discontinued. He is now living a healthy and normal life with his family.

Expressing her gratitude, Mamta said that the family had been living in fear and uncertainty after learning about the kidney failure. She said the support and confidence provided by Dr. Anurag Jain and the entire GBH team helped them through the difficult period and that the family would remain grateful to them.

First Kidney Transplant at GBH

The hospital stated that kidney transplantation is a highly complex procedure and that this first successful transplant at GBH General Hospital represents a significant medical achievement as well as a source of hope for patients suffering from kidney disease. All legal and regulatory requirements related to the transplant were completed.
