BJP Criticizes Punjab Congress Infighting

New Delhi, July 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson R.P. Singh has made a sharp remark regarding the infighting within the Punjab Congress. Referring to Bhupesh Baghel, the Congress in-charge for Punjab, Singh stated that his tea has gone cold as several leaders refused to attend a meeting called by him.

Singh’s comments came at a time when some leaders did not show up for the meeting organized by Baghel. Speaking to a news agency, he said, “Baghel’s tea has gone cold, but the leaders have refused to come.”

He pointed out that leaders like Charanjit Singh Channi, Sukjinder Singh Randhawa, Parghat Singh, and Gurpreet Singh Bajwa are all contenders for the chief ministerial position within the Congress. The party is struggling to decide who should be its face, leading to increased factionalism, which Singh believes will have consequences for the Congress.

Additionally, Singh raised questions about the arrest of Jitu Patwari’s brother in a brown sugar case, stating, “Senior Congress leaders need to answer why their people are involved in the drug trade. Nana Patwari, Jitu Patwari’s brother, is engaged in this drug business. They should clarify where the money from this drug trade is going.”

The BJP spokesperson also responded to ongoing statements regarding the meeting between Eknath Shinde and Sharad Pawar, saying, “Leaders like Sanjay Raut and Nana Patole have crossed the boundaries of political principles. There was a simple meeting between Eknath Shinde and Sharad Pawar, yet they are politicizing it. It is regrettable that they question the party with which they contest elections.”
