New Delhi, July 5: Alok Kumar, the international president of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), has responded to opposition leaders by stating that if they possess “sufficient evidence” to support their claims, they should assist in the ongoing investigation. This remark follows a letter he wrote to officials investigating the alleged irregularities surrounding the Ram Temple.
Kumar’s comments were directed at prominent opposition figures, including Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, and Samajwadi Party leader Ramgopal Yadav, who have called for an inquiry into the allegations.
Speaking to reporters, Kumar noted, “The individuals I mentioned hold influential positions; hence, I believe there may be a basis for their public statements, and they might have insights into the facts of the case.” Addressing the opposition’s claim that “over ₹20,000 crores are missing,” he countered, “According to the information we have received, such an amount was never even present.”
He added, “If Ramgopal Yadav is making such claims, the police should ask him how he came to mention such a large sum, who provided him with this information, and whether he has any documents to substantiate his allegations. He should share this with the investigators to aid the inquiry.”
Kumar also referenced similar accusations made by Priyanka Gandhi and Kejriwal, stating, “It has been alleged that crores of rupees in donations have gone missing.” However, he clarified that he is not accusing these leaders but rather suggesting that investigators should seek their assistance, as they may possess information that is unknown to others.
When asked about the VHP’s annual meeting being shifted to Delhi, Kumar explained that the meeting, originally scheduled for Ayodhya, was postponed due to “logistical difficulties” amid the ongoing investigation into the Ram Temple. He confirmed, “The meeting was delayed and will now take place in Delhi.”
Regarding the Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav’s questions about the BJP’s central leadership’s silence on the Ram Temple controversy, Kumar remarked, “Actions speak louder than words.” He expressed confidence that the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is committed to revealing the truth, stating, “I believe the government is doing everything expected of it.”
