Canberra, July 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a tour of three countries, including Australia, in early July. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed pride in welcoming PM Modi to Australia for the Australia-India Annual Leaders Summit, scheduled during Modi’s visit from July 8 to 10.
According to a statement from the Australian Prime Minister’s office, PM Albanese will host PM Modi in Melbourne as part of the summit.
This visit is expected to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations and enhance collaboration in various key sectors. The statement highlighted that India is now one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and a crucial economic partner for Australia. It further emphasized that the relationship between the two countries is built on a broad strategic partnership supported by strong economic and cultural ties.
Cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, security, and technology is continuously increasing, benefiting both nations significantly. PM Albanese last met PM Modi during the G20 summit in Johannesburg in November 2025.
Expressing enthusiasm ahead of the visit, PM Albanese stated, “I am proud to welcome my friend PM Modi to Australia for our annual Leaders Summit.” He added, “The Australia-India relationship has never been more important, and our partnership promotes peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. I look forward to further strengthening the deep partnership between Australia and India.”
Following the Australia visit, PM Modi will travel to New Zealand for a state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon from July 10 to 11. This will be the first state visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in nearly four decades.
In Auckland, PM Modi will engage in bilateral talks with PM Luxon and review the full scope of bilateral relations, which have seen significant developments in trade, commerce, and defense over the past two years. He will also interact with prominent figures from the business and sports sectors and address a large gathering of the Indian community, showcasing the strong ties between India and New Zealand.
