
JAIPUR, July 1, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : World’s largest integrated zinc producer and a leading silver producer, Hindustan Zinc Limited, was honoured with six awards at the 30th Bhamashah Samman Ceremony. The Education Vibhushan awards were presented to the company’s Rampura Agucha Mine, Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter, Zawar Mines, Rajpura Dariba Complex, Zinc Smelter Debari and Kayad Mine for their positive contribution to the field of education.
This is the 11th consecutive year that the Rajasthan Government has recognised Hindustan Zinc for its transformative educational initiatives and efforts towards providing quality education. Since 2017, the company has invested more than ₹551 crore in various educational interventions, benefiting over two lakh children annually.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at Birla Auditorium in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa as the chief guest. During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, Education Minister Madan Dilawar and Additional Education Secretary Rajesh Yadav honoured 145 Bhamashahs and 99 Preraks selected from across the state with certificates of appreciation. Rajasthan Mid-Day Meal Commissioner Vishw Mohan Sharma, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director Dr Rashmi Sharma, Education Director Sita Ram Jat and Joint Director Mahendra Khinchi were also present.
The awards were received by Rammurari, IBU CEO of Rampura Agucha Mine; Manisha Bhati, Environment Head at Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter; Mamta Sharma, Head HR; Vivek Yadav, SBU Director of Debari Zinc Smelter; Ruchika Chawla, Head CSR; Abhay Gautam, Head CSR of Dariba Smelting Complex; Amit Malani, Finance Head of Zawar Mines; Rajesh Choudhary, Head of Kayad Mines; and members of the CSR team.
Over the last nine years, Hindustan Zinc has invested more than ₹551 crore in social development under CSR in the field of education. This includes ₹83 crore for infrastructure upgrades such as classroom construction, toilets, playgrounds, drinking water facilities and electrification, while ₹468 crore has been invested in long-term education initiatives.
These initiatives include Nand Ghar for early childhood care through modern anganwadi centres, Shiksha Sambal, Jeevan Tarang for inclusive education of rural students and children with special needs, Unchi Udaan for higher education, support for higher education of rural girls and assistance to company-operated schools.
More than two lakh children benefit annually from Hindustan Zinc’s education programmes. The initiatives have had a significant impact on school enrolment, especially among adolescent girls, and on learning outcomes in tribal and rural areas.
According to the company, the Class 10 pass percentage in the state increased from 47 per cent in 2007 to 92.53 per cent in 2026, with girls consistently outperforming boys. While Rajasthan’s average result over the last ten years has been around 67.66 per cent, 37 schools associated with the Shiksha Sambal programme achieved 100 per cent results.
To further improve access to quality education for underprivileged children in rural Rajasthan, Hindustan Zinc has signed an MoU with the Education Department of the Rajasthan Government. Under the agreement, ₹36 crore will be invested over the next five years to promote educational development in the state.
Apart from education, Hindustan Zinc is also implementing programmes focused on the upliftment of rural women and farmers, healthcare, water conservation, sanitation, infrastructure improvement and sustainable livelihoods. According to the company, these initiatives have positively impacted the lives of more than 26 lakh people across over 4,000 villages.
