Bhopal, December 6 (Udaipur Kiran) – Cold winds have intensified again across Madhya Pradesh, with icy northern winds bringing severe chill to Gwalior, Chambal, and Sagar divisions. Fog has started appearing in several areas, reducing visibility significantly.
On Friday night, minimum temperatures dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in 19 cities including Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur, with Rewa recording the lowest at 5.8 degrees. The state has witnessed an average drop of 2-3 degrees in night temperatures. The weather department predicts this temperature decline will continue for several more days.
Senior meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran explained that active western disturbances in the higher regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to bring snowfall and rainfall. The icy winds from these regions are reaching Madhya Pradesh, indicating intensified cold conditions on December 7 and 8. Northern winds are blowing across the state but with reduced intensity, causing significant differences between day and night temperatures. The sky remains completely clear with dry weather conditions prevailing.
Friday night saw Rewa become colder than even Pachmarhi, the state’s only hill station, with temperatures touching 5.8 degrees. Other major cities recorded: Bhopal 8.2 degrees, Indore 11 degrees, Gwalior 7.5 degrees, Ujjain 11.7 degrees, and Jabalpur 9.9 degrees Celsius.
Additional temperature recordings included Rajgarh-Kalyanpur at 6 degrees, Pachmarhi 6.7 degrees, Satna’s Chitrakoot 6.8 degrees, Shivpuri 7 degrees, Umaria 7.1 degrees, Naugaon 8.2 degrees, Satna 8.6 degrees, Damoh-Khajuraho 9 degrees, Guna 9.5 degrees, Sidhi 9.6 degrees, Malajkhand 9.7 degrees, and Dhar 9.9 degrees.
