Emraan Hashmi’s romantic action drama ‘Awarapan 2’ has emerged as a super hit at the box office within just seven days of its theatrical release. The film has secured a strong verdict for itself, marking a significant turnaround for Hashmi, who has been waiting for a clean theatrical success. Taking full advantage of the Independence Day holiday period, the film maintained an impressive momentum throughout its first week.Awarapan 2 Movie ReviewReleased on August 14, ‘Awarapan 2’ has continued its strong box office run after registering an excellent opening weekend. The sequel successfully navigated the Monday test and remained steady on Tuesday before witnessing a relatively modest dip on Wednesday and Thursday. The film has also benefited from the enduring popularity of the original ‘Awarapan’, which failed to make a major impact during its initial theatrical run but later developed a cult following, largely driven by its memorable music and emotional storyline.As per Sacnilk, ‘Awarapan 2’ began its theatrical journey with Rs 22 crore on Friday. The film then witnessed a massive 55 percent jump on Saturday, collecting Rs 33.75 crore. The boost came amid the Independence Day holiday and an increase in the number of shows, which rose from 9,033 on Friday to 10,496 on Saturday.The film followed it up with Rs 26 crore on Sunday. As expected, collections dropped after the extended weekend, with Monday bringing in Rs 9.25 crore. However, the film remained steady on Tuesday, adding another Rs 9.75 crore to its tally, while the number of shows also increased.Wednesday saw a 16 percent decline, with the film collecting Rs 6.75 crore on day six. On Thursday, day seven, ‘Awarapan 2’ earned Rs 6 crore across 10,832 shows. With this, the Emraan Hashmi starrer has closed its first week with a strong Rs 113.50 crore, according to Sacnilk.The film’s impressive performance has also helped Emraan Hashmi make a significant jump in the list of the most profitable post-COVID Independence Day releases. ‘Awarapan 2’ has pushed Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s ‘OMG 2’ out of the top three. The latter, which also featured Yami Gautam, earned 131 percent profit on a Rs 65 crore investment, finishing its theatrical run at Rs 150 crore.Interestingly, ‘Awarapan 2’ could potentially have reached the final position on this list, as overtaking ‘Gadar 2’ from here is expected to be a Herculean task.
