Chennai, July 14: A tragic incident occurred at a steel melting unit in the SIPCOT industrial area of Gummidipoondi, Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a migrant worker and serious injuries to four others. The explosion of a boiler led to a massive fire in the factory, prompting extensive rescue and relief operations.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi, a migrant worker from a northern state of India, who was on duty at the time of the explosion and died at the scene. The four injured workers suffered severe burns and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains critical.
Preliminary reports indicate that the workers were engaged in regular operations when the boiler exploded unexpectedly. The force of the explosion was so powerful that it ignited a fierce fire in the factory, sending thick plumes of smoke and flames throughout the industrial complex, causing panic among the workers present.
