New Delhi, July 12: Senior Congress leader and former MP Dr. Udit Raj has expressed concern over the ongoing infighting within the party. He stated that the Congress has failed to secure power in several states because leaders have invested more energy in internal conflicts rather than strengthening the organization.
In an exclusive conversation, Dr. Udit Raj remarked that the party was on the verge of victory in Uttarakhand, with the government almost within reach, but internal factionalism led to their defeat. He noted a similar situation in Punjab during the last elections, where the government was forming in their favor, but some individuals, including the state president, initiated factionalism. This infighting is not only harming the party but is also detrimental to the country as a whole. The Congress is failing to form governments and is continuously losing, adversely affecting the organization.
He emphasized the urgent need for all leaders in Punjab to work together as a team, given the severe issues the public is facing. If the party continues to engage in infighting, no one will benefit. Only when they achieve something will there be a distribution of benefits, leading to ministerial and chief ministerial positions. Therefore, it is time to set aside factionalism and work unitedly.
Earlier, Udit Raj posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Infighting within Congress is not only a major reason for election losses but also a key factor in weakening the party at an organizational level. It is incomprehensible that internal disputes will yield any benefits. Due to factionalism, Congress failed to form a government in Uttarakhand. Leaders and workers in Punjab should learn from this. Punjab itself suffered from severe factionalism during the last assembly elections. It seemed as if the party president had taken a contract to oppose every decision of their own government, resulting in our defeat.”
He further added that if they focus on the struggle to save the Constitution and the sacrifices and dedication of Rahul Gandhi, they must avoid infighting. Any issues or disagreements within the organization should be addressed on the appropriate party platform.
