Liton Das Out of ODI Series Against Zimbabwe, Parvez Hossain Named Replacement

New Delhi, July 9: Bangladesh’s cricket team has suffered a significant blow in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, as star batsman Liton Das has been ruled out due to injury. Liton has been unable to recover from his hamstring injury in time, forcing him to miss the series against Zimbabwe.

Left-handed batsman Parvez Hossain has been named as his replacement in the squad. Liton will return to Dhaka to complete his rehabilitation.

Bangladesh’s physiotherapist, Baizidul Islam Khan, stated, “Liton was unable to play in the first ODI and is still not fit to participate. He underwent a fitness test today, and the results were not satisfactory. With two ODIs coming up, we do not believe he will make enough progress to play a role in the series.”

In the first ODI, Bangladesh faced defeat against Zimbabwe. Batting first, Zimbabwe was bowled out for 141 runs, with Newman Nyamheri scoring the highest for the team with 33 runs, while Richard Ngarava contributed 27 runs. In bowling, Nahid Rana excelled, taking 6 wickets for just 21 runs in 10 overs, while Taskin Ahmed claimed 2 wickets for 32 runs.

Chasing a target of 142 runs, Bangladesh was all out for just 116 runs, with eight batsmen failing to reach double figures. Nurul Hasan was the top scorer for Bangladesh, making 31 runs off 44 balls, while Towhid Hridoy added 25 runs.

For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava performed brilliantly with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs, while Brad Evans also took 3 wickets for 34 runs.
