England Clinches T20 Series Against India with Dominant Win


Bristol, July 10: England secured a convincing victory over India in the fourth T20 match at County Ground, winning by 9 wickets, thanks to an unbroken century partnership between Philip Salt and Harry Brook. With this win, the host team has taken a 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

The first match of the T20 series between India and England ended without a result due to rain. England won the second match by 4 wickets, and in the third match played in Nottingham, they claimed a dominant victory by 125 runs, establishing an unassailable lead in the series. The fifth and final match is scheduled to take place on July 11 in Southampton.

Winning the toss and opting to bat, the Indian team managed to score 158 runs, losing 7 wickets in the process. India struggled early, losing 3 wickets for just 48 runs. Captain Shreyas Iyer took charge, forming a crucial partnership of 53 runs for the fourth wicket with Shivam Dube off 43 balls.

Dube was dismissed for 22 runs off 23 balls. Iyer then added 29 runs with Tilak Varma (11) and 27 runs with Washington Sundar (5). Iyer remained unbeaten on 80 runs off 49 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours. For England, Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue each took 2 wickets, while Will Jacks and Adil Rashid claimed 1 wicket each.

In response, England chased down the target in just 13.5 overs. They lost their first wicket, Jos Buttler, for 8 runs in the 3rd over. From there, captain Harry Brook partnered with Philip Salt to take control of the innings.

The duo put together an unbeaten partnership of 146 runs off 68 balls. Brook, named ‘Player of the Match’, scored 79 runs off 35 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 8 fours, while Salt contributed 59 runs off 42 balls with 10 boundaries. The only success for India came from Arshdeep Singh, who took 1 wicket for 41 runs in 3.5 overs.
