BJP Nominates Satish Patel for Manjalpur By-Election

Vadodara, July 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Manjalpur assembly seat of Gujarat. Satishbhai Govindbhai Patel has been nominated to contest from this constituency.

The BJP’s central election committee has approved Satish Patel’s name for the by-election scheduled for July 30, 2026. This information was shared through a press release issued by the party.

The Manjalpur seat became vacant following the demise of BJP MLA Yogesh Patel. With the announcement of the candidate, political activities in the region have intensified, as the BJP is determined to retain this seat.

Following Satish Patel’s nomination, discussions regarding the political equations in the area have begun. There are also talks about the role of the RSS lobby in the candidate selection process circulating in political circles.

Voting for the by-election in Manjalpur is set for July 30. Yogesh Patel, who was elected from this seat, passed away on June 2, leading to its vacancy.

Yogesh Patel, a senior BJP leader, had won this seat three times by significant margins and was elected to the Gujarat assembly eight consecutive times during his political career. The Manjalpur seat was considered to be strongly associated with his identity.

While the BJP has an unwritten rule to keep senior leaders (aged over 75) away from elections, Yogesh Patel, at 77, was nominated again in the 2022 assembly elections and achieved victory.

During this by-election, the opposition is also expected to make a strong attempt to test their fortunes.
