Mumbai, July 8: The local train services between Vasai and Virar are currently facing delays of 25 to 30 minutes due to heavy rainfall in the region, as reported by Vinit Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway. The persistent rains, particularly affecting the Nalasopara area, have led to recurring waterlogging issues.
Abhishek stated that despite the challenges, local trains are operational on the network from Churchgate to Vasai Road, Vasai Road to Virar, and Virar to Dahanu Road. Regular services are maintained between Churchgate and Vasai Road, although the frequency of trains between Vasai Road, Nalasopara, and Virar has been affected by waterlogging.
He emphasized that the railway is making every effort to ensure the smooth operation of local trains, although delays of 25 to 30 minutes are currently unavoidable. The ongoing rains have caused significant inconvenience for commuters, impacting both their mental and professional lives.
The railway authorities are committed to keeping the local train services running as long as possible, understanding that these trains are a lifeline for the people of Mumbai. Special attention is being given to train speeds in areas experiencing waterlogging, and staff are actively providing passengers with timely updates regarding train operations.
In case of stranded passengers, the railway is providing essentials such as drinking water, tea, and refreshments. Abhishek urged the public to prioritize safety during such natural events, stating that if a route is deemed unsafe for train operations, services will be suspended.
