Pune, July 7: A significant twist has emerged in the high-profile Lohagad Fort murder case. Sources indicate that the main accused, Siya Goyal, allegedly married her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, months before her arranged marriage to businessman Ketan Agarwal.
According to reports, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act approximately four months ago. However, Siya got engaged to 25-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal in February this year, with their wedding scheduled for November.
Notably, Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigating agencies suspect that this was a premeditated conspiracy, as Siya did not wish to marry Ketan Agarwal.
The police are currently investigating claims that the couple legally registered their marriage. Officials are also trying to ascertain whether a marriage certificate exists, as such a document could serve as crucial evidence in the investigation.
Sources reveal that Siya’s two college friends, who signed as witnesses during the marriage registration, are also being questioned. Investigators are attempting to recover deleted photos from an Instagram account, which reportedly show Siya and Chetan wearing wedding garlands, potentially significant evidence for the case.
Authorities suspect that the alleged conspiracy intensified when Ketan Agarwal’s family requested necessary documents from Siya for the proposed destination wedding in Udaipur. Additionally, investigating agencies are examining Chetan Chaudhary’s bank transactions to determine if any payments were made to evade the mandatory public notice period required under the Special Marriage Act.
Currently, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are in judicial custody. According to the investigation, Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyal met through family connections, and their engagement took place earlier this year. Police allege that Chetan Chaudhary followed the couple to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident and was involved in the alleged murder conspiracy.
The investigation has reportedly uncovered online search histories, deleted messages, and other digital evidence indicating that a detailed plan was devised prior to the incident. According to police, Siya and Chetan allegedly searched for various methods of committing murder on Google and YouTube, ultimately planning to push Ketan off Lohagad Fort.
During questioning, Siya reportedly told investigators that she did not want to marry Ketan, claiming that breaking off the engagement would bring shame to her family, which led her to conspire with Chetan to commit the murder.
