Delhi Police Arrests iPhone Thief in Six Hours


New Delhi, July 5: The Delhi Police swiftly apprehended a mobile thief within just six hours in the Shahdara area, recovering the stolen iPhone and the scooter used in the crime.

According to police officials, a woman named Priya reported the theft at the Shahdara police station. She stated that while returning home after dropping her children off in a school cab, an unidentified person on a scooter snatched her white iPhone near Kabul Nagar, Shahdara. Following the complaint, police immediately initiated action and responded promptly to a PCR call, leading to the filing of an FIR at the Shahdara police station.

Recognizing the seriousness of the case, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of SHO Inspector Yogesh Kumar and the supervision of the ACP Shahdara. The team included Head Constable Monu Kumar, Head Constable Sumit Kumar, and other officers. They conducted a thorough analysis of CCTV footage in the area, utilized technical surveillance, and interrogated local informants.

Based on continuous investigation and tips from informants, police successfully arrested the suspect within six hours. During questioning, the accused identified himself as Vijay Kumar, a 24-year-old resident of New Modern Shahdara. He admitted to being a drug addict and revealed that he had recently been released from a rehabilitation center after nearly two months of treatment on June 29, 2026.

Police recovered the stolen white iPhone and the grey Honda Activa scooter used in the crime from the accused. Further questioning is ongoing to determine if he has been involved in other thefts or robberies. According to police records, no prior criminal cases have been registered against him.
