Punjab Kings Cricketer Shashank Singh and Father Face Assault Charges

Bhopal, June 30: The Ratibad police in Bhopal have registered a case against Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh and his father, retired Special Director General (DG) Shailesh Singh. A cook employed at their residence has accused them of assault, verbal abuse, and forcibly taking his mobile phone.

The First Information Report (FIR) names Shailesh Singh, Shashank Singh, and their driver, identified as Mishra, as the accused. The case has been filed under sections 296(B), 115(2), and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an investigation has commenced.

The complainant, Vipendra Singh Tomar, a resident of Rewa district, began working as a cook at the family’s bungalow in Neelbad on June 25. Tomar claims he was promised a monthly salary of ₹15,000 along with food and accommodation.

In his written complaint, he stated, “After being assured of salary, food, and accommodation, I agreed to work there and started living at their home.”

However, Tomar alleged that he was later told that his work was unsatisfactory, and his mobile phone was confiscated. He reported to the police, “After preparing breakfast on June 28, I asked Shailesh Singh for my mobile phone back, but he refused. Frustrated, I went to my room.”

The complainant further alleged that “Shailesh Singh, his son Shashank Singh, and their driver came to my room, used abusive language, and assaulted me with their hands and fists. After beating me, they forcibly threw me out of the house.”

Tomar also claimed that they transferred ₹1,000 from his mobile phone, stating it was for food and accommodation expenses. He mentioned, “After the incident, I came to the police station with my relatives to file a complaint and seek legal action.”

Shashank Singh plays for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), while his father, Shailesh Singh, is a retired Special DG of the Madhya Pradesh Police. The police are currently investigating the allegations. Attempts to obtain a response from retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh have not yet yielded any statements.
