New Delhi, June 29: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has initiated a special training program aimed at enhancing the investigative capabilities of its officials. The NCB India announced via its official X handle that a three-day intensive training program has commenced at the CAPT in Bhopal for 26 NCB officials, focusing on the investigation of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases.
According to the NCB, the primary objective of this training program is to equip officials with the necessary technical and legal skills for effective investigation of drug trafficking-related cases. The training will place special emphasis on the investigation of NDPS cases as well as aspects of financial investigations, to aid in dismantling the economic networks associated with drug trafficking.
Drug trafficking is not limited to the illegal supply of substances; it is also supported by extensive financial networks. Therefore, identifying and acting against narco-financing poses a significant challenge for investigative agencies. Through this training, officials will be trained to identify such networks and take effective action against them.
This initiative aligns with the national roadmap on narcotics control. The agency reiterated its commitment to continuously strengthen its capabilities and resources to achieve the goal of a drug-free India.
During the three-day program, officials will receive training on provisions related to the NDPS Act, modern investigative techniques, evidence collection processes, financial transaction investigations, and identifying organized networks involved in drug trafficking.
The NCB is actively conducting operations against drug trafficking and related crimes across the country. The agency asserts that merely seizing drugs and making arrests is not sufficient; it is essential to target the entire system and its economic sources associated with trafficking.
