State Election Commissioner B. Jothi Nirmalasamy on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Tamil Nadu Delimitation Commission at the office of the State Election Commission in Chennai.
During the meeting, officials held detailed discussions on determining the number of members to be elected in 11 district panchayats, 40 panchayat unions, and 177 village panchayats, as well as on carrying out the ward delimitation exercise.
An official release said, it was decided to finalise the numbers and recommend them to the government. Ms. Nirmalasamy, who also heads the Tamil Nadu Delimitation Commission, instructed officials to expedite the process of completing ward delimitation for the local bodies concerned.
Senior IAS officers and officials participated in the meeting.
