
JAIPUR, June 2, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : Rajasthan witnessed relief from the recent heatwave as rain and strong winds affected several parts of the state. Intermittent rainfall in Dholpur since Monday night led to a drop in temperature, while the Meteorological Department issued fresh weather alerts.
Tuesday marks the last day of the Nau Tapa period, and thunderstorm and rain activity is expected to continue. After intense heat during the first four days of Nau Tapa, residents received relief in the final days due to strong winds and rainfall. On Monday afternoon, several areas of the state experienced rain accompanied by gusty winds, resulting in a decline in temperatures.
A major incident was reported on the Reengus–Delhi railway route (corridor rail line), where four containers of a freight train were blown off near New Bhagega Railway Station due to strong winds. Rail traffic on the corridor route remained affected for some time.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain in Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Deeg, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Jhalawar, Karauli, Khairthal-Tijara, Kota, Kotputli-Behror, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar districts.
The rainfall has brought cheer to farmers as the Kharif sowing season is approaching. Farmers said that good rainfall will help begin field preparation and ploughing activities. They added that timely sowing of crops such as bajra, pulses, oilseeds, guar, jowar, maize, moth and groundnut could result in better production in the coming season.
A new western disturbance is expected to become active over the state during the next two days. On June 3 and 4, weather activity is likely to intensify again in parts of the Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Ajmer divisions. Rain accompanied by strong winds with speeds of 60 to 70 kmph is likely at isolated places during this period. Relief from the heat is expected to continue.
During the last 24 hours, Phalodi recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.8 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Barmer at 41.8 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer at 41.4 degrees Celsius, Sri Ganganagar at 40.4 degrees Celsius and Bikaner at 40.2 degrees Celsius. Temperatures remained below 40 degrees Celsius in the rest of the state.
