Abu Dhabi, May 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a warm farewell from President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders embraced each other before Modi boarded his flight.
Modi described the trip as a “short but very positive journey,” emphasizing that the outcomes will strengthen the friendship between the two nations and contribute to development and prosperity.
On the social media platform ‘X’, he wrote, “I have completed a short but very positive visit to the UAE. I had detailed discussions with my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on ways to deepen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. I am confident that the results of this visit will strengthen our friendship and contribute to development and prosperity.”
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that the visit yielded several significant outcomes, further enhancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He stated on ‘X’, “Short time, but important results. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit has yielded several key outcomes, and the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has deepened. Demonstrating the warmth of the relationship, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan bid farewell to the Prime Minister at the airport. The Prime Minister has now departed for the Netherlands as part of his five-nation tour.”
Earlier in the day, Modi held discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as energy, trade and investment, blue economy, technology (including fintech), defense, and enhancing people-to-people connections.
The leaders also discussed the situation in West Asia and other global issues. Modi reiterated India’s strong condemnation of the attacks on the UAE and expressed solidarity with its leadership and people. He made it clear that India desires safe and uninterrupted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for regional peace, stability, energy, and food security.
The MEA statement highlighted that both leaders discussed the full spectrum of India-UAE relations and welcomed the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across various sectors, including energy, trade, investment, defense, security, fintech, infrastructure, education, culture, and people-to-people ties. They also appreciated the success of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has elevated trade between the two countries to new heights.
