Digvijay Singh Comments on Bhojshala Verdict Amidst Tensions

Indore, May 16: Congress leader Digvijay Singh has reacted to the recent High Court ruling regarding the Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. He stated that the matter will be studied further, noting that several similar cases are already pending in the Supreme Court.

Singh highlighted that cases related to Kashi Vishwanath, the Sambhal mosque, and Mathura-Vrindavan are also pending in the Supreme Court, which has imposed a stay on them. He emphasized the need to analyze the implications of the recent Bhojshala verdict.

He pointed out that Bhojshala is a monument protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and raised concerns over the absence of any mention of idols in the ASI report.

Singh remarked, “In a time of economic and social stress in the country, it is not appropriate to reignite Hindu-Muslim disputes.”

The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Indore bench recently ruled in favor of recognizing the Bhojshala complex as a temple, prompting a wave of political reactions.

In response to the ruling, the Hindu side has quickly initiated legal preparations. On Friday, Jitendra Singh Vishen, representing the Hindu faction, filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court through lawyer Barun Kumar Sinha. The petition requests that no unilateral orders be passed on any potential appeals against the High Court’s decision without hearing the Hindu side.

Meanwhile, the Muslim side has also expressed intentions to challenge the High Court’s ruling in the Supreme Court. Dhar city Qazi Wakar Sadiq stated that they will approach the Supreme Court after thoroughly studying the ASI report.
