Mumbai, May 9: Actress Divya Dutta is currently receiving acclaim for her role in the web series ‘Chiraiya.’ Directed by Shashant Shah, this six-episode series addresses serious social issues such as marital rape and domestic abuse.
Since its streaming on Jio Hotstar, the series has garnered praise for its compelling narrative, with all the cast members receiving positive feedback. Dutta emphasized that this is a series that resonates with every woman.
On Saturday, she shared a podcast video on her Instagram stories, stating, “Everyone is watching Chiraiya. Recently, I met a mother who found the courage to speak to her daughter’s in-laws after watching the series.”
Recalling her encounter, Dutta said, “While I was at my yoga class, a woman approached me and asked if she could talk. I thought it was odd to discuss things during yoga, so I asked her to wait. However, she was insistent on speaking with me.”
The woman shared her story, saying, “My daughter was abandoned by her in-laws, and I lacked the courage to confront them. After watching ‘Chiraiya,’ I cried a lot, and it gave me the strength to face them.”
Dutta expressed her gratitude for the kind of responses they are receiving about the series. “It makes you realize the power of visual media and storytelling. When a story is presented well, people connect with it, and it feels rewarding to see that. A new wave has begun, and I recall someone mentioning that this is a story every household can relate to. Everyone is watching ‘Chiraiya.’”
