New Delhi, May 8 (Udaipur Kiran): Pre-monsoon activity has intensified across the country, bringing a major change in weather conditions in several states. Following the arrival of pre-monsoon systems, rainfall activity has increased once again in many regions.
While the 2025 monsoon season witnessed widespread rainfall, weather experts had earlier predicted another strong rainy season in 2026. However, recent reports linked to El Nino suggest that rainfall patterns could be affected this year. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several states for May 8, 9 and 10.

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh during the next three days. Light to moderate rain, strong winds at speeds of 30-50 kmph, dust storms and thunderstorm activity are also expected.
West India
Weather conditions have also changed across western parts of the country. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa between May 8 and 10. Strong winds and thunderstorm activity are also likely during this period.
East and Central India
Several areas of West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha are expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next three days. Gusty winds of 30-50 kmph, dust storms and lightning activity may also occur in these regions.
South India
Pre-monsoon activity has also picked up in southern states. The weather department has predicted heavy rain in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, Mahe, Yanam, Karaikal and Rayalaseema from May 8 to 10. Strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning are also expected, with wind speeds likely to reach 30-50 kmph.
Northeast India
