Launch of Operation Sindoor: 100 Best Poems Marks First Anniversary


New Delhi, May 8: A grand literary event was held at the Samvet Hall of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in the capital to celebrate the first anniversary of ‘Operation Sindoor’. The event featured the launch of the book ‘Operation Sindoor: 100 Best Poems’, edited by renowned author Dr. Harish Chandra Barnwal and published by the esteemed Prabhat Prakashan.

The ceremony was presided over by Ram Bahadur Rai, the chairman of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. Distinguished guests included former army officer Colonel Pradeep Khare, Executive Editor and Anchor of Aaj Tak, Syed Ansari, senior satirical poet Sudip Bhola, and renowned poet and Uttar Pradesh’s State Information Commissioner Virendra Vats, who added prestige to the occasion.

In his address, Ram Bahadur Rai praised the continuous creative efforts of the book’s editor, Dr. Harish Chandra Barnwal. He noted that the ‘Operation Sindoor’ initiative is not over and could be revived at any time. Rai emphasized that poets participating in the ‘Operation Sindoor’ poetry competition will continue to have opportunities to create poetry.

The distinguished guests also shared their thoughts. Colonel Pradeep Khare remarked that the poetry collection ‘Operation Sindoor: 100 Best Poems’ serves as a vibrant document of valor. He highlighted the Indian Army’s remarkable achievement of destroying nine terrorist and military targets in Pakistan in just 25 minutes, a feat that Pakistan will not forget for centuries.

Syed Ansari stated that every book published by Prabhat Prakashan, which aims to convey national sentiment to the world, is imbued with patriotism. He mentioned his indirect involvement in the publication of this book and praised Dr. Barnwal’s kindness towards poets who did not win awards, recognizing their work with certificates and honorariums.

During the event, Dr. Harish Chandra Barnwal introduced the book, shedding light on its purpose and background. He revealed that ‘H.B. Poetry’ organized the ‘Operation Sindoor’ poetry competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from 361 poets across the country. This platform provided a powerful expression for poems filled with national sentiment. He noted that through the collaboration of ‘H.B. Poetry’ and Prabhat Prakashan, the works of 100 distinguished and emerging poets are compiled in this volume, ensuring that the heroic saga of ‘Operation Sindoor’ reaches future generations.

The ceremony featured several prominent poets reading their inspiring works, filling the auditorium with patriotic fervor. A key highlight of the event was the recognition of over 80 poets from across the country with certificates of appreciation. The gathering was graced by notable figures from the fields of literature, journalism, and the arts.
