New Delhi, April 18 (Udaipur Kiran): The India Meteorological Department has issued fresh weather alerts across the country, even as recent rainfall brought relief to residents in the Delhi-NCR region from intense heat.

Over the past few days, parts of Delhi-NCR, including Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, have witnessed heavy rainfall accompanied by light dust storms. However, the weather agency has now indicated a gradual rise in temperatures, with no immediate possibility of rain in the coming days.

Heatwave Conditions in Multiple Regions

The IMD has warned of heatwave conditions in several parts of the country:

  • April 18–19: Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh
  • April 18–20: Odisha
  • April 19–21: Jharkhand
  • April 17–18: Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Telangana

Hot and humid conditions are also expected to persist along both the western and eastern coastal regions throughout the week.

Rainfall and Thunderstorm Alerts

The department has forecast heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in the following regions:

  • April 18–21: Arunachal Pradesh
  • April 19–20: Assam and Meghalaya
  • April 18–19: Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim

Bihar Weather Update

Weather is expected to remain mostly dry across Bihar on April 18. However, light rainfall may occur in isolated areas such as Araria, Kishanganj, and Supaul. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts, warning of lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h.

Delhi-NCR Forecast

The IMD has projected a steady increase in temperature across Delhi-NCR:

  • April 18: 38°C / 22°C
  • April 19: 39°C / 23°C
  • April 20: 39°C / 23°C

No rainfall is expected, and temperatures may soon cross the 40°C mark.

Rajasthan Weather Outlook

In Rajasthan, light rain or drizzle may occur in isolated areas on April 18, particularly in divisions like Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner. However, most districts are likely to experience dry weather with rising temperatures. In western parts, the mercury may touch 41–43°C in the coming days.

Outlook for Other Regions

  • Eastern India: Light rainfall with thunderstorms likely in Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and parts of Bihar.
  • Central India: Thunderstorms with lightning expected in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on April 20–21.
  • South India: Rainfall with thunderstorms likely in Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe. Hailstorm activity is possible in North Interior Karnataka on April 18–19.

The IMD has advised residents in affected regions to remain cautious, especially in areas under lightning and heatwave alerts.
