Udaipur, February 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – Rail passengers in the city have received temporary relief as the proposal to shift train operations from Udaipur City station to Rana Pratapnagar station has been deferred. All trains will continue to operate from Udaipur City station as before.
The railway administration was preparing to enhance operational capacity by connecting Track Nos. 9 and 10 to the Umarda line. A ‘non-interlocking’ work was proposed for this purpose. As per the earlier schedule, some trains were to be operated from Rana Pratapnagar between February 12 and 17.
However, approval from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) was mandatory for carrying out the work. Due to technical reasons and delay in CRS clearance, the non-interlocking work has been postponed for now. Consequently, the plan to shift train operations has also been deferred. New dates are expected to be announced soon.
At present, Platform No. 9 is connected only from the Rana Pratapnagar side, while Platform No. 10 remains disconnected. After the proposed work, Platform No. 9 will be linked from both directions. Platform No. 10 will have direct connectivity from the Umarda side. The move is aimed at improving traffic management and facilitating operation of new trains in future.
