KL Rahul Surpasses Virat Kohli in Match-Winning Sixes, Dhoni Still Leads

In the first ODI played at Vadodara, the Indian cricket team secured a 4-wicket victory over New Zealand. KL Rahul sealed the win with a six, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Rahul struck four runs twice and a six off the last three balls of the 49th over bowled by Christian Clarke, guiding India to a successful chase. This was the sixth time in ODI cricket that Rahul has hit a six to clinch the match for India, surpassing Virat Kohli, who has achieved this feat five times.

Former captain MS Dhoni holds the record for hitting the most match-winning sixes in ODIs for India, having done so nine times. Rahul still has the opportunity to break Dhoni’s record in the future.

In this match, Rahul remained unbeaten on 29 runs off 21 balls, including two fours and one six.

India won the toss and chose to field first. New Zealand posted a total of 300 runs for 8 wickets, thanks to notable contributions from Daryl Mitchell (84), Henry Nicholls (62), and Devon Conway (56).

In response, India reached 306 runs for 6 wickets in 49 overs, with key innings from Virat Kohli (93), Shubman Gill (56), and Shreyas Iyer (49). Kohli was named Player of the Match for his performance.

However, India faced a setback ahead of the next two ODIs as Washington Sundar was ruled out of the series due to injury. Ayush Badoni has been named as his replacement in the squad.
