State Police Conference Focuses on Strong Law and Order for Developed India | Udaipur Kiran


Jaipur, January 8 (Udaipur Kiran) : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday said that a strong law and order system plays a decisive role in achieving the vision of a Developed India. He said the new criminal laws introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah have replaced colonial-era laws and strengthened public trust through the concept of speedy justice.

Addressing the state-level police conference on the theme “Police System in a Developed India” at the RAJASTHAN Police Academy, the Chief Minister said that the state’s law and order situation has shown significant improvement over the last two years. Compared to 2023, overall crime has declined by 15 percent, murder cases by 25 percent, and robbery cases by 50 percent. Crimes against women have reduced by 10 percent, while atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have fallen by 28 percent.

The Chief Minister said that innovations in police training have given Rajasthan a new identity at the national level. He expressed satisfaction that the Rajasthan Police Academy has been awarded the status of an excellent institution by the Government of India’s Capacity Building Commission, becoming the first police training academy in the country to receive this recognition. He congratulated police personnel and urged them to continue serving the nation with dedication and make Rajasthan a leading state in implementing the new criminal justice system.

Highlighting youth engagement, Sharma said that on Youth Day, January 12, students should be informed about the new laws and encouraged to visit police stations to understand policing, drug de-addiction, and road safety from an early stage. He said police stations are being strengthened to ensure forensic investigation in cases carrying punishment of more than seven years, while processes from FIR and e-FIR registration to charge sheets and court decisions are being made fully online.

The Chief Minister said the government is committed to curbing organised crime and has directed screening of social media posts that glorify gangsters. He also stressed strict action against drug trafficking and praised police efforts against cybercrime, saying swift action in cases of digital arrest and online fraud is essential to maintain public trust.

He said improved law and order has strengthened the state’s economy and investment climate. Referring to the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, Sharma said that out of MoUs worth ₹35 lakh crore, projects worth ₹8 lakh crore are already being implemented on the ground.

On police welfare, the Chief Minister said the government is taking several steps to strengthen the force. These include the creation of a ₹200 crore fund for police modernisation, establishment of the Sardar Patel Centre for Cyber Control Room and Rajasthan Police Technical Training Academy at a cost of ₹350 crore, enhancement of uniform allowance for personnel from constable to assistant sub-inspector, and increased mess allowance up to inspector level. Financial and administrative approvals worth around ₹60 crore have also been issued to improve efficiency.

Emphasising community policing, Sharma said police should adopt a sensitive and inclusive approach while ensuring timely justice for all sections of society. He also called for the use of technology and AI in analysing intelligence inputs and said senior officers should devote time to training juniors and mentoring police stations.

Home State Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said the police force has a crucial role in fulfilling the vision of Developed India and that public trust has increased under the present government, with criminals feeling the pressure of effective policing.

Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma said dedicated efforts are being made to improve policing and that the conference will hold detailed discussions on cybercrime, women’s safety, control of narcotics and crimes, and police empowerment.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also launched the e-Visitors Portal, e-Zero FIR, and released the Rajasthan Police Priorities–2026 booklet. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and senior police officers, were present at the event.
