
Dhaka (Udaipur Kiran), December 30 – Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), passed away early this morning. She breathed her last at 6 am at the age of 80, according to an announcement made by the BNP Media Cell on their official Facebook page.
The Dhaka Tribune reported the news, confirming her demise. Earlier last night, AZM Zahid Hussain, member of the medical board formed for Khaleda Zia’s treatment and a member of BNP’s standing committee, informed journalists about her deteriorating condition. Speaking at the main gate of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at around 2:15 am, Dr. Zahid said, “The former Prime Minister is currently going through a very critical phase.”
Khaleda Zia had been admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23. Recently, her son Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh from London after nearly 17 years.
