New Delhi, 30 December – To ensure smooth traffic flow in Delhi-NCR during the New Year celebrations, Delhi Police has announced special arrangements. On 31 December, vehicle entry into Connaught Place will be restricted from 7 PM onwards. Only vehicles with valid passes will be allowed access to certain designated areas.
To avoid inconvenience to the public, traffic diversions and special parking arrangements will remain in place until the New Year celebrations conclude. Vehicles heading towards Connaught Place will not be permitted to proceed beyond Mandi House, Bengali Market, Ranjit Singh Flyover, Minto Road, Patel Chowk, and other specified points. Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at locations including Gol Dak Khana, Kalibari Marg, Pant Marg, Copernicus Marg, Minto Road, and Windsor Place.
With large crowds expected near India Gate during the New Year festivities, special measures are being implemented there as well. Traffic may be diverted from Q Point, Mathura Road-Old Fort, Mathura Road-Sher Shah Road, Zakir Hussain Marg, Rafi Marg, and Pandara Road if necessary. Diversions may also be applied at multiple roundabouts. No vehicles will be allowed to park on roadsides; unauthorized parked vehicles will be removed by crane and legal action will be taken.
To avoid difficulties for those traveling towards New Delhi Railway Station, alternative routes such as RML Hospital Road, Mandir Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, or Windsor Place are advised. Ahead of New Year’s Eve, Delhi Police and Traffic Police have launched a large-scale security operation across the capital.
Delhi Police urges citizens to use public transport, especially the Metro, and strictly avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.
Strict action will be taken against those violating traffic rules or causing disturbances during celebrations. The public and drivers are advised to remain patient, follow traffic laws, and obey instructions from traffic personnel at all intersections. For any issues, citizens can stay updated by contacting WhatsApp number 8750871493 or helpline numbers 1095 / 011-25844444.
