Coal India Appoints B. Sairam as CEO


New Delhi, December 26 (Udaipur Kiran) – Coal India Limited (CIL), the country’s largest coal-producing company in the public sector, has appointed Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) B. Sairam as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The decision was taken during the company’s board meeting held on Friday.

CIL informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that the board meeting on December 26 approved the appointment of B. Sairam as the CEO, along with his existing role as CMD.

The company stated that this dual role appointment reflects the central government’s efforts to promote faster and more effective management in this leading coal sector company. The appointment comes at a crucial time as CIL intensifies its efforts to achieve the coal production target of 87.5 crore tonnes for the financial year 2025-26, focusing on important mineral diversification.

It is noteworthy that Coal India Limited is the largest and most prominent coal producer in India’s public sector, supplying about 82-84 percent of the country’s total coal production. As a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, CIL plays a vital role in the nation’s energy security.
