New Delhi, December 19 (Udaipur Kiran) – The Supreme Court has declared a winter recess starting from December 20. However, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant announced on Friday that a bench led by him will convene on December 22 to hear urgent matters during the holiday period.
The Supreme Court will resume regular sessions from January 5, 2026. Earlier, on December 18, some lawyers had requested immediate hearings in the CJI’s bench. Responding to their plea, Justice Surya Kant stated that he is willing to hold a hearing on December 22 if the lawyers are ready. However, no lawyer came forward to take up the matter.
Accordingly, the bench under the Chief Justice’s leadership will sit on December 22 to deal with essential cases only.
