Mumbai, 13 December. The popular cooking show ‘MasterChef India’ is set to return with a fresh new style. The show will air from 5 January 2026 on Sony TV and the OTT platform Sony LIV at 9 PM.
Chef Kunal Kapoor and comedian-host Paritosh Tripathi recently shared exclusive insights about the new season with the media.
Speaking to the media, Chef Kunal Kapoor revealed that the show this time focuses on promoting Indian cuisine with a completely new approach. The theme is titled ‘India Ka Gaurav’ which aims to highlight the cultural richness of Indian culinary arts. This season introduces the ‘Three Rs’ factor – ‘Ras, Rasoi, aur Rishte’ – which represent the essence of every dish.
He added that while the competition will be relatively easier for participants compared to earlier seasons, they will have limited time to showcase their skills under pressure.
Television host Paritosh Tripathi expressed his excitement about hosting MasterChef for the first time. He stated that his happiness is not just about hosting but also about a special guest joining the show. Actress Shilpa Shetty is expected to add a desi flavour, though only for a few episodes.
This season is notable as Chef Kunal Kapoor returns to the show after several years. Earlier seasons were hosted by the duo Ranveer Brar and Vikas Khanna, but season 9 promises to be thrilling with the trio of judges coming together.
The promotional video for ‘MasterChef India’ has also been released, emphasizing the recognition of traditional Indian food. The tagline reads, “Jab desh itna aage badh raha hai, to desh ka swaad peeche kyon?” The show will premiere on 5 January, but participant details have not been disclosed yet.
